sarandamusic is a thing again

SILT #13
If you type "sarandam" into the YouTube search bar, it autocorrects to "sarandamusic". WHATTTT?! Aww yeah.

--

Sara and I recorded for the first time in a while.
Lotsa fun times. Everytime we get together to record, we end up laughing really hard at boogers or something. It's a good time.

We're looking to record a couple more times before I leave.

Which will be fun. :)

It's been a long week.
I'm looking forward to a good lie down tonight.

Hope you're well.

"Actually, he is kinda like Santa Claus. He's very well read."
"You think Santa Claus is well read?!"
"Uh...yeah."

She knows Santa better than I do. Lookathat.

Hope you're all well.

"Healing diseases."
"It's like discovering fire all over again."
"Or electricity. Cause I'm modern."
"Electricity wasn't really "discovered" though.
We should go swimming regularly."
"YOU KNOW WHAT.
Yes. Absolutely."
"Splendid."
"Delightful."
"A real treat."

"THAT'S THE SAME THING."
"I know, but Candace from Phineas and Ferb said that once and I almost spit out the food in my mouth."
"Nope. Regardless of the source, it remains unacceptable."
"Does that mean you win?"
"Yes. Indubitably."
"Dangit."

Hope you're well.

God is pretty darn cool

SILT#10
I really like potatoes.

--

Alright.
So today has been pretty uneventful event-wise, but I cool things have happened to me.

I'm ungrateful.
I'm really ungrateful when I want to be. Mostly, the ungratefulness stems from my inability to see past a moment in time. I selfishly think about myself and how I feel, blinding me to the bigger picture.

Sometimes, I'm super grudging when it comes to walking Jazz. Don't get me wrong, I love that dog to bits, but it's really uncomfortable in the humidity. Ants and other bugs like biting, and sometimes I get scratched up by branches that have fallen from the trees.

Some of you may know that I've been struggling with some lower body joint pain which makes getting in and out of chairs kind of annoying. I've been using my arms mostly to manoeuvre myself.

Today, it was blazing hot. From the minute I woke up, I started sweating and have been complaining all day about how gross I feel and my headache.

Tuesday is Adam has music class day.
I was dreading going to help mum with him because of the weather. It's been smouldering outside.

But I went anyway.

As I got into the car, I was informed we needed to stop by the park to get a stick for part of Adam's Zulu tribe costume for International Day at his school tomorrow.

*groan*

I took them to the place where I knew branches fell and got out of the car, picked up a huge stick, broke it down to size and then ripped all the small branches still attached.
Then I got back into the car.
The whole process took two minutes.

Which is when I realised some things.
1. If I didn't walk Jazz a lot, I wouldn't have known where to find big branches
2. If I hadn't been lifting my body out of chairs with my arms, I would have struggled a lot more
3. If it wasn't that hot, the wood wouldn't have been brittle and come apart as easily
4. And if I wasn't there with them, my mother would have had to struggle with that.

I'm putting this up so I don't forget.
We're so limited by our human perspective. Certain things happen for a reason. God doesn't shoot His will at you willy nilly.

This is fantastic.
Not that that stick was a life changing thing that happened. But it did open my eyes to the fact that I shouldn't be so quick to run my mouth.

There is more.
There is always more.

Hope you're well.

can't stand the rain by the rescues

SILT #9
How to cook bacon in the microwave.
(Contact me personally if you want details.)

--

So today, I spent three hours napping on various surfaces in my house.
Which is nice, because that's something you can't do in college. The last time I was falling asleep on surfaces was in my Centrality of Media class.
Haha.

It wasn't a bad class. It was just too early.

Nose is on a plane home tonight.
(Too soon. :s)

And now I don't know what to do with myself. Not because she's gone or anything. Just because it's late and I need to be up tomorrow really early, but I don't want to sleep.
I just wanna stay up all night.

But I've promised people that I'm going to take care tonight.
So tonight I will take care and go to bed in a bit. :)

So yes.

That is all.

Hope you're all well.
Goodnight.

starbucks - again

Okay, so the internet is out in my house still.

-.-

But, I do recognise that there are worse things in this world, and that I shouldn't be lamenting the loss of internet because I have so much more to be grateful for.
It's silly how we can whine and complain about something so trivial, isn't it?

"Oh no, my life is so hard. I have to go to starbucks to get internet."

Seriously, the train of thought was this last week. That's what ran through my mind. Now it's been missing for a couple days (it hasn't even been really missing, just in the day when dad's not home for us to use his phone as a modem), I've started to understand better why small things shouldn't bother me.

It's fitting that this is what we're talking about as part of our family project.

"i was only supposed to eat soup, i swear!"

SILT#8
A grande Caramel Macchiato at Starbucks costs RM13 without tax.

--

So the internet is busted in my house.

In Starbucks again (a different one). I also added stuff to my sketchbook today while mum was using my computer to do important mail things. The internet being out in the house means that I won't have that many things to waste time on tonight, but it also means that I can work more on music and picture making.

It's a nice day outside.

Woke up early-ish for the first time in a while.

Earlier, when I was leaving Starbucks the first time (yes, I am back now), I cleared the table we were using. I chucked the drinks in the trash and handed the tray to them over the counter. The barista seemed quite relieved it was one less table to clean.

People here are a little inconsiderate.

BAH.

But I digress.

AFIFAH IS HOME I AM SITTING ACROSS FROM HER NOW WHEEEEE. :D

Hope you are having a wonderful day.

gnomeo and juliet

SILT#7
HELP is reusing the Lit books my intake used for this intake.

--

Watched Gnomeo and Juliet today with Rach.
Cute movie. Again, animation was fantastic. I want, for once, to be involved with a project like that. It would be so cool to see something you make come to life like that.

So. Cool.

It's been an interesting day.

It's rained harder than it has ever rained since I've been home.
It was fantastic.

Hope you're well.

doodle discrepancy

SILT#6
The guitar riff for the song Lord, I Need You.

--

A conversation about beer in Spanish. Mostly.

me: CERVEZA (BEER)
me: nom nom nom (nom nom nom)
cheryl: ew (ew)
cheryl: no me gusta cerveza (i don't like beer)
cheryl: es mal (it's bad)
me: es delicioso (it's delicious)
*beat*
me: i only know that word because Dora's backpack taught it to me

haha.
Good old Dora the explorer and her animate belongings.

--

Also, the other day I was looking at the doodle wall at one of Adam's drawings of football players.

They don't really look like people though they have distinguishable arms and legs and helmets. Looking at his drawings and then at mind of cartoons that look like the actual things they represent would lead one to say that my drawings are better than his.

But think about it. The only reason one would say that is because we are told that things are supposed to look a certain way and that a good drawing is one that captures that.

We are conditioned to think that way.

Adam's art on the wall is no less representative than mine.
But is more imaginative.

I'm glad he was brought into my life at the time that he was.
I learn from him everyday.

Hope you're well.

no hobo

SILT#5
If I don't consistently drink water throughout the day, I get massive headaches.

(It wasn't this bad before I left.)

--

I was in the IKANO area today with my mahm. Adam had three music classes at Bentley today spread out over a three hour time period. She wanted company, I had nothing to do; it seemed a no brainer.

Sitting in Starbucks was good for my creative juices (I'm maybe half a hipster) and also was lovely and cooling. It was nice being out of the house.
This lady gave me a weird look for singing Heartless to myself.

It's okay lady, I don't like Kanye much either.

Taking the fact that I was out for a long(ish) period of time today, you'd think I'd be presentable and not dressed like a hobo.

But I was.

It's just one of those days on which comfort comes before everything else.

So I'm wearing my tye dyed t-shirt, old P.E. shorts and multicolored flip flops.
And I couldn't be happier.

Hope you're well.

:)

doubt?!

SILT#4
Slush drinks have a higher mass than the soda/ice combination in the same sized cups.

--

I got my new denture today!
After losing the initial one to a greedy bathtub, I'm thinking that my extra dental parts don't like being in the bathroom much.

First, I lost my retainer to the toilet.

Then my denture to a tub.

I cringe to think what will happen to me when I am much older and need more dental work. MAYBE I WILL JUST HAVE NO TEETH FOREVER.

In other news, Doubt was a weird movie.
When it came out, there was lotsa hype about the story it told and the acting. I agree with only one and a half of those sentiments.

The acting was phenomenal.

But the story was all over the place and did not conclude anything.
(Which is what it's supposed to do, I'm sure. It was just incredibly frustrating because I wanted more context to what was going on.)

If you don't know, the premise of the show is that there is a priest who is suspected to be doing something he really shouldn't do while the head nun tries to force him to confess to it.

It just felt kind of roundabout and I didn't know what I was supposed to get from it.

Which is not what I expected.

*shrug*

Hope you're all well.

(thanks Callie)

I've had an exhausting Sunday; but it's nothing my post pasar malam, pre dinner nap didn't fix. :)

Being home has really made me appreciate everything I have.
It's awesome.

Hope you're well.

me: poop makes everything better.

something i learned today (SILT)

SILT#1:
Fruit Ninja is pretty awesome.

--

Today I went out with Rach to go watch Kung Fu Panda 2 (again, for me).
Again, I was stunned by the graphics and voice acting. It's cool that people can emote so much with just their voices. Pretty darn incredible.

Most people agree that the movie is 'okay'.
I liked it more than that.

It was pretty fantastic.
It's making me think about looking into working with animation/cartoons.

MAYBE.

Don't get too excited yet.

It's just a thought.

Hope all is well.

:)

home after away

Adam had a guitar recital today and was still all dressed up when we walked into IKANO for dinner. I had this conversation with him:

adam: I'm so ina-inap-inapplopliately dressed...
me: No man, you look good.
adam: But it's like, too foh-mal.
me: Dude. Look at it this way. Because you're dressed so nicely, all these other people are now underdressed.
adam: *stares at me* *smiles* Oh okay.

ee!

--

Being home for summer has taught me lots of things about myself that I did not know previously. For example, I now know the origin or the time when I stopped wanting to wear dresses. It was in the Philippines when I was going to Brent. I had a teacher named Ms. Veracruz who never wore dresses.
And it was from then on that I didn't want to wear dresses anymore.
No two ways about it.

I also learned that I make funny faces when I play the guitar.

Huh.

Hope you're all well.

:)

shaun: I should check out a glee club or something
me: right
me: yes
me: or a chorale
me: as gay as that sounds
shaun: But the closest thing here I think is the Gay Mens chorus

--

Haha.
I miss him.

Hope you're all well.

i won't even start

I've been drawing again and my hands are happy.

But it's getting a little late and my lines aren't as steady as they should be, so I'm taking a break. Being on summer break and having the luxury to stay up and wander the halls of YouTube or discover new facets on Tumblr reminds me of when I was back in elc and would stay up to do the same.

The only difference was that I had to get up for school the next day.

Like any other teenager, I would grumble about how little sleep I got the night before when I saw my friends. I'd shake my head and say that the assignments we were given were too long. I'd say that I was too busy to deal with stuff.

We don't like to take responsibility for the irresponsible things we do.
Yeah, my homework kept me up.
But that's because I spent four hours playing on the internet before I started doing it.

I've gotten much better at keeping my inner child under control.

That's because I let her out to play whenever I can.

It's not unhealthy.

It keeps me happy. :D

--

In other news, my best friend is on a plane home right now.

Yei.

Hope you're well.

OKAY

SO

I'm sitting in the suite waiting for the bathroom heater to get a little toastier before I shower to get ready for bed. And I thought I'd drop a note here about the DISGUSTING FILTHY SWINE-MONKEYS that inhabit the gizmo at night.

This is what they look like:

Note the stumpy little jelly feet they use that render them incapable of walking to the bins to throw their garbage away, and their short piggy arms that make it impossible for them not to make a mess.

AND THEIR PIGGY FACES THAT WON'T STOP WANTING TO BE FED.

They make gross messes.
I wish they would stop coming in.

That is all.

Goodnight.

Hope all is well.

hi

Okay.

So I was thinking.

Maybe we should give this another shot.
